He's Growing Up So Fast....

Finally! The Blogger site is working again! To all readers, I'm very sorry for the delay between posts. I have tried uploading pictures and videos over the last 2 weeks, but it continued to freeze the screen each time I tried. I crossed my fingers today and thankfully everything seems to be working again.

Lucas really is growing so fast :) We have started feeding him baby food and he quickly let us know he prefers bananas over carrots. And by that I mean he refuses to eat carrots. The moment they touch his tongue he starts sobbing so we've moved on to bananas for now. He loves them! He tends to get frustrated with the spoon feeding though because he doesn't quite understand how it works. He feels the tip of the spoon and tastes the food, but doesn't understand why he can't keep the spoon in his mouth at all times and have the bananas somehow, magically, come out from the spoon like it does his bottle. Each time I pull the spoon out of his mouth to reload it with baby food, he gives me this look like, "why are you teasing me??" He's so smart!
He's really trying to roll over completely. He will roll from one side to the other, but if we put him on his stomach, he still doesn't have quite enough strength to roll himself over on to his back again. He definitely gives it a real effort though; once he's on his stomach, he'll rock his butt from left to right, trying to get enough momentum to roll all the way over. He hasn't succeeded quite yet, but he's so close. He loves the stand-up bouncer though; I think he likes the feeling of being on his feet. Then again, he only lasts about 5-10 minutes until he's ready to get out and play on his back again. No matter what "station" he's playing at, he continues to be quite the active busy-body!!

My cousin, who is a Marine that recently returned home from Afghanistan, met Lucas for the first time. These two became instant pals! Lucas was fussy all afternoon, but the moment my cousin put him in his arms and on to his lap, well, I think the pictures speak for themselves :) He fell right asleep :)
The video below shows Lucas's adorable, chunky, little legs. Alex has been helping him to practice standing up, but Lucas isn't having any of it. Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day!

We finally got to celebrate Mother's Day this year and it was all I could have imagined and more! I woke up to Lucas's morning feeding cries as the sun was coming up & I couldn't have been more grateful. As I tip-toed into his room in hopes to hear his sweet voice babbling to himself, I slowly peered over the edge of his crib and saw that adorable smile that just melts my heart. His legs started running a million miles an hour as he knew my presence meant bottle time! This specific morning was extra special so I wanted to take the day slow and enjoy every moment of it. I picked him up and just hugged him, rocking back and forth, as tears immediately (and uncontrollably might I add) began streaming down my cheeks. My heart was so full of love that I thought it might burst! I cannot imagine for a moment what my life would be like today without Lucas. How blessed and privileged I feel to be his earthly mother, and how thankful I am to the Savior for allowing me to do so. My heart is also especially full for his birth mother, Lacy. Because of her valiant spirit, and because of her incredible testimony, courage, and sacrifice, Lucas was able to find his way to our home. We love you Lacy and are sending you Mother's Day wishes today.

Lucas is really growing big! He weighed in at 17 pounds and measured 26 inches long at his 4-month appointment. As seen in the pictures above, he's growing healthy and strong!

He has started giggling and laughing this past week, especially when playing with Dad. The video above gives you a small peek.

Finger Snacks

Lucas loves "snacking" on his fingers, preferrably the first two fingers. We think he's probably beginning the pre-teething phase because he sucks on them all day, drools constantly, and pushes his fingers down on to his gums. We've bought plenty of "teething toys", but his fingers seem to bring him the most enjoyment and relief.

He is also enjoying sitting up, especially against the big pillows on our couch, much more than laying down these days. He'll lay on his play mat for 10-15 minutes, but then gets bored and wants to be sitting up with Alex and I. He is already believing he's the man of the house by claiming power over the remote control. :)

Lucas has also started laughing lately. It's SO cute!! In the video above, we found him to be especially ticklish under his arms. Alex and I get him laughing, and if you listen real close, he laughs so hard he passes a little gas too :) That's our boy!

Sweet Child of Mine

Lucas's eyes have been looking SO green lately! At first, we thought they might be blue, then they seemed almost a charcoal grey, but now they seem fiercly green!!

Lucas's Auntie Lo Lo came to visit him & he absolutely LOVES her! She always gets him to smile and he's always very interactive with her. She is a wonderful aunt to him and just loves him so much.

What would this blog be without a pic of Lucas and his Daddy :) These two are inseperable the moment Alex gets home from work. Lucas loves to just spread out across Alex's chest and watch TV with him or take a nice long nap. SO cute! I'm so thankful for the amazing husband & father Alex is. He is going to be a great example for Lucas.
Love you sweetheart :)

He's a Babblin' Boy

Lucas is aware of the camera now more than ever, so catching special moments like this one, have proven to be a real challenge. However, I did succeed and it paid off! Lucas is a babblin' boy these days and has really discovered his voice & its' different pitches. He loves sucking on his fingers & I'm almost certain the teething progress may very well be in the early, early stages because he drools NON STOP! :) In this video, Lucas is laying on his play mat on top of my bed. He patiently lays there and plays every day while I get ready. He started talking a mile a minute, so I crawled on to the floor (so as not to disturb his story), grabbed my camera, and carefully raised it over his head to catch him. SOOO cute!

As always, Lucas remains a daddy's boy :) He loves sitting on his lap, playing with his teething toys, and even takes some of his best naps when he's with his Dad.

I had Al grab the camera and take one of the two of us! I find myself feeling kind of sad when I go through all the pics and realize that him and I don't have a lot together. That's completely my fault though too- I like being the one behind the camera, and I think we can all agree that Alex is far more photogenic :)
Lucas has been trying really hard to gain his independence with his head & neck. We recently bought him a Bumbo chair, which is made for babies his age & allows them to develop strength in their neck and posture. The first day we put him in there, he wasn't quite sure what to think of it! But now, he absolutely loves it! (See pic below.) And it gives my arms and back a break too, so I have no complaints :)

Breakfast with Lacy

Alex, Lucas, and I were able to meet Lucas's birth mom, Lacy, for breakfast over the weekend. It was so wonderful to see her & to hear of all the exciting things she's doing in her life. She has such a sweet spirit and presence about her, and we love her dearly!
